Stitching on cards and a couple new cards

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile work and work and more work LOL. But anyways today I am taking my son to the State Fair so I can come home with a stomache ache I am sure haha...

I get asked all the time about my stitching on my cards. Yes I stitch on every single card I think it adds something to it. I cannot stitch on fabric I have tried wasn't pretty. I use a Janome 3125 which isn't the smallest machine they sold which I tried that one too but it only lasted me about 8 months because I make alot of cards. This one so far has lasted me probably about 15 months. I can't see spending money on an expensive machine for cardstock. I can't believe it is good for the machine. I notice alot of paper dust bunnies inside when I change my bobbin out. As for thread I use Silky - yes it is expensive it's approximately $6 per roll full price. No I don't pay full price for it haha. I wait for Joann's to have a sale at either 40% or 50% off then its not too bad. It is beautiful cause it is kind of shimmery which is hard to see in pictures. As for the bobbin I always use the cheap white heavy duty thread. Almost forgot Silky thread lasts forever there is 800 yards per roll which I believe regular thread is like 250 yards?

When I start to sew I line my cards up with my card stock not my machine as I believe regular sewers do. This way even if my cardstock isn't straight on my card my stiching is straight on my cardstock. I go in about .25 of an inch. I have my tension on 3 and my stiching is the middle straight stich out of 3 lenths. The smallest one I have had problems ripping the paper before as stitches are too close together. I sometimes will use the longest lenth but tension never works quite right for me. I also go through all my layers at one time. Why because it saves on tape and also because it seems to work better. 1 sheet of paper has a hard time keeping straight on the machine in my opinion which I always use 2 - 3 layers. Then after I have sewed all my layers I will tape it down to my card front with my ATG gun.... simple huh.

Arn't these little characters in my cards cute. I was a cheap clear set I got at Anchor I believe they were Stampendous. They were like $7.99 for 2 kids and saying and a couple little stamps. Very adorable... Ok off to take a shower then to the fair. Hope everyone has a fabulous week. Tomorrow I am off to my parents for the day so probably won't post again till next week.

What adorable cards! And thank you for the sewing tips too. I haven't tried sewing my cards yet because my sewing machine hates me. LOL. I hope you have fun at the fair!
